Right now … the late May edition
Wondering when I’ll feel like myself again. I had surgery on Thursday. I had a number of large growths on my lady parts — I know, TMI for some people — the second time in the same number of years. Because of this and a family history of female cancers my doctor recommended a complete hysterectomy. Right now, I’m taking it easy and letting my body heal. It’s beyond hard for me to slow down and rest. But I really can’t move particularly fast and I’ve been in quite a bit of pain. I’m hoping a few weeks from now I’ll feel more like myself and will be moving a wee bit faster.
Missing my #mileaday practice. Doctor’s orders say no formal exercise for six weeks. I can casually walk around my neighborhood two weeks post op … but even then it’s suppose to be slow and measured. I already miss logging my miles and racking up steps on my FitBit.
Planning for a trip to Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon for the Fourth of July. I should be feeling better by then and it will be a fun chance to see my sister and her crew as they drive through Northern Arizona … as well as a visit with my dear Sarah and family.
Eating a whole lot of saltine crackers and tomato basil soup. My doctor says I can resume a regular diet, but at the moment most foods don’t sound appealing to me. I normally have the appetite of a linebacker, so it’s totally out of character that I’m having to force myself to eat. I’m guessing this should pass soon.
Listening to “The Husband’s Secret.” My goal for 2014 is to read at least 50 books. I’m ahead of schedule at the moment (this will the 21st book I’ve finished this year), but I’ve lost a little of my steam as of late and need to get back on the the reading horse. Mike has the same goal for 2014 and he’s way ahead of me — 31 out of 50 books thus far. Since we compete at just about everything we do, it’s killing me he’s so far ahead! I guess that’s good motivation to get off my butt and get going.
Drinking water, water and some more water. Trying to avoid things that will make me feel yuckier than I already do.
Soaking up the love and support of my family and friends. Mike has been super husband the last week taking such great care of me. My local family had pitched in, helping with the kiddos. One of Shelby’s BFFs and her family have been so sweet and kind, helping to entertain her now that school is out and I’ve been out of commission. Dear friends and family from across the country have been sending lovely flowers, sweets notes and encouraging text messages. I feel blessed beyond measure.
Thinking about all the things I want to do once I feel better … like paint, go to the pool, make a quilt, start training for the Tucson Half Marathon.May 26, 2014
