I have GOALS … for 2015

Hello 2015| Big Goals | Kimberly Kalil Designs

I have GOALS  for 2015. Big, huge goals.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

It’s that time of of year. We all set goals. And then we do nothing. Right?

I set a lot of goals. I follow through on some of them. I start most of them. Once I start, I really, really love some of them. And then some, I hate. The ones I hate, I stop doing. Not all goals are created equal, so I’m not horrible hard on myself when I don’t finish everything on my list.

But. There is always a but right? This year — 2015 — I have some pretty major goals I want to accomplish. I’ve been think about them a lot over the last six weeks. I’ve been making lists. I’ve been making plans. And I committed to taking steps to making them happen.

Twenty-fifteen is going to be my best year ever. Seriously.

Here’s why: I’m going to get off my butt and get started. I’m not striving for perfection. I’m just challenging myself to act. To start. To take a sep forward toward the things I want. Each step will create momentum and with that momentum I’m going to do some pretty awesome things. Here’s my list of big and small goals for 2015:

  1. Write a children’s book (more to come on this)
  2. Wake up at 5 a.m. daily to have a Miracle Morning (and get stuff done)
  3. Increase my freelance work
  4. Connect with friends and people I love (more to come on this, but I’ll be starting “Mail Monday” to help make this happen).
  5. Exercise regularly (a mile most days, plus yoga)
  6. Write 500 words a day (those words will be on this blog and in my book)
  7. Get the kids involved in a sport (swimming for Shelby and maybe soccer for Cooper)
  8. Paint five days a week
  9. Monthly family activity
  10. Bi-monthly date nights with Mike

And my bonus goal … Increase my spirituality, however that might be …. it’s still up for debate.

For the most part, my list is totally achievable. There are a few things on the list that are big dreams and require hard work and dedication, but the vast majority of the list is all about being consistent and carving out a each day to make them happen.

For the big stuff, I’m going to have to dig in and just get started. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about some of these goals, but thinking has gotten me no where. I need to just put one foot in front of the other and go to work. I decided that sharing my goals publicly (here on the blog) would give me a swift kick in the pants to get started. It always seems to help me get going when I tell people what it is I’m working toward.

I honestly believe that everything on my list is totally achievable. In fact, I might have to come back in a few months and add a few more things, since I’m going to plow through some of these things pretty quickly. But, that’s not really the point. The point for me is to get started and see where these goals, dreams and ideas take me. If after a few weeks I find that painting five days a weeks doesn’t bring me as much joy as I think it will, then I can dump that goal and find a new one. I want my goals (and dreams) to be living and changing. If it works and I love it, then I’ll keep at it. If it doesn’t work and I hate it, then I’ll reevaluate it.

My plan is to pop in at the beginning of each much and share my progress. Until then … let the work begin.

What are you working on this year? What goals have you set for 2015? I’m committed to making 2015 the best year ever, are you?
