When I started painting I was in a foul mood. I picked blue thinking it would fully convey my crankiness.
But two things happened:
1. After some research, I discovered the color blue doesn’t actually represent sadness, frustration and angst — what I was feeling — but instead represents freedom, expansiveness, depth and trust (among other things). Further reading told me it has a positive effect on the mind and body.
2. Painting did for me what it always does for me: it got me out of my funk and back to center.
