Explore

I'm a total sucker for online classes. Love them. Dare I say I'm an addict? Probably true. But there are worse vices, right?

I signed up for Shimelle's latest class, Explore. I actually told myself I wouldn't. I don't have a lot of time. I'm traveling to Des Moines next week for business and then will be vacationing in Idaho. I'm taking another online class (MotherLOAD over at Big Picture). I want to do "A Week in the Life" with Ali, which is slated for next week. Shelby starts school August 11 and there's lots of to do in preparation of her big day. Basically, I'm swamped.

But then I saw people posting about the course and I was jealous. I felt left out. It took about a day of flip-flopping before I gave in and signed up.

Since I signed up late, I'm behind ... .but that's cool. I'll get caught up this weekend.

I've done most of the prompt for day, which included taking a self portrait (easy for me) and create a playbook ... a journal to be used throughout the class.

Self portrait

Creating the playbook was the hardest part. If you have followed my blog for any length of time, then you know I've gone digital, totally and completely digital. I thought about about doing this class digitally, but I feared I wouldn't print anything out in the end and I wanted some sort of journal or mini book when all was said and done. I thought about making a playbook from all the paper scrapping supplies I have and aren't being used. But I settled on using my new Smash Book.

I've had my Smash Book since they shipped in early June. I altered the cover. I've wanted to use it since I heard about them. But I just couldn't bring myself to "smash" in it. Maybe it's because I didn't have a plan. Or maybe it's because I didn't have a clear purpose for it. Either way, it sat in my craft space sad and lonely.

Now it's not going to be unused and ignored.  It's the perfect solution for me, since I can just tuck it in my bag and use the pen/glue stick combo while I travel. I'm keeping this project simple. It's gonna about the be about the words and documenting how I think and feel. If I feel like embellishing it later, then I will, but for now I just want to write and add my pictures (I ordered this printer to make documenting while I'm on the road easier).

Hopefully I'll have more to share as the course progresses. For now, I'm off to explore!
