Enchantment

Each and every day I am reminded how blessed I am, especially in the kid department. I have the smartest, funniest, sweetest daughter in the world. Through out this season, it's been adorable to watch Shelby share her love of Christmas with Cooper. The two of them would be the best little elves ever. They love everything about Christmas.
Tonight we went out to a fancy dinner with family. It wasn't what we originally planned to do. But plans change. And everyone rolled with it quite well, including my kiddos. Shelby was the perfect little lady at dinner -- she chatted and entertained Great-Great Aunt Dorothy and used all her manners. And this was even after having to wait 45 minutes for everyone to arrive. Coop even did quite well. No melt downs. No inappropriate behavior. I was pleasantly surprised.
Then when we got home, they got to open one present each. It's the same thing each year - pajamas - and Shelby has caught on. But they were still super excited. When I was a kid, I got to open one gift on Christmas Eve and it was always the gift from my paternal grandparents. I remember being so excited and feeling like I was getting over opening a present before Christmas morning. This year I managed to find the kiddos matching pajamas -- How the Grinch Stole Christmas Jammies -- at Pottery Barn. Tell me they don't look adorable. I dare you. Once the jammies were on and cookies were out for Santa, both kids went right to bed. They were more than willing, which NEVER, EVER happens (which was so good, since we had a lot of "Santa" prep to take care of). Just add Santa to the mix and suddenly my kids will do anything and do it the first time I ask.
